FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

getting started

The process begins by exploring the engagement ring collection. When you find a design that resonates, submit a Bespoke Enquiry from that product page. From there, I’ll guide you through each step.

VIEW ALL ENGAGEMENT RINGS.

The more information you can provide, the better I can guide you. Helpful details include your budget, ring size, preferred metal, stone type or shape, and any insights into your partner’s style or preferences. If you’re unsure about any of these, that’s completely fine - guiding you through these decisions is part of the process.

Not at all. Most clients begin without a clear direction - guiding you through these decisions is part of the process.

Design & Customisation

No - they are starting points. Each design can be refined through stone, metal, proportion, and detail to create something uniquely yours.

Yes - every piece can be tailored to suit your preferences and budget.

Yes - while most clients begin with a design from the collection, we can also explore entirely custom pieces.

Yes, in some cases. Existing pieces need to be assessed first to ensure the materials are suitable. Remodelling is considered on a case-by-case basis.

Diamonds & Gemstones

I’ll guide you through this process. Based on your budget, design, and preferences, I’ll present a curated selection of 2–3 stones that are well suited to your ring.

Yes - I work with both and can guide you through the differences.

Absolutely. Sapphires and other gemstones are excellent alternatives and offer a wide range of colour and character.

Yes - all natural diamonds are sourced through trusted suppliers and are Kimberley Process certified conflict-free.

Most modern white diamonds over 0.50ct are certified. Some stones - such as champagne diamonds, antique cuts, or smaller accent stones - may not come with certification.

METALS

I primarily work with 18k gold and platinum for engagement rings, as they offer the best balance of durability and longevity. However we can explore lower karat metals to suit your budget.

The difference lies in gold purity. 18k gold contains 75% pure gold, giving it a richer colour and higher value. 14k contains 58.5% pure gold, and 9k contains 37.5%. As the gold content decreases, the colour becomes less rich.

The difference comes from the alloy mix. Yellow gold retains a classic tone, white gold has a cooler appearance, and rose gold has a warmer hue due to copper content.

White gold is alloyed and rhodium plated for a bright finish, while platinum is naturally white and does not require plating.

Rhodium plating is a finish applied to white gold to enhance its brightness. Over time, it wears and typically needs to be reapplied every 1–2 years.

TIMELINE AND PROCESS

Production typically takes 8–10 weeks once your stone has been selected and deposit received. It’s best to allow additional time for stone selection and consultation.

As early as possible. Creating a bespoke engagement ring is a great process and it's best if you don't have to rush through each stage

As early as possible. The bespoke process is something to be enjoyed, not rushed. Allowing enough time means each decision can be made with care, resulting in a ring that feels truly considered and personal.

If you are needing an engagement ring urgently, you can explore the ready to ship pieces.

READY TO SHIP.

Yes - I’ll keep you informed at key stages throughout the process. You can expect updates once your payment has been received, when your ring has been completed to the stage of stone setting, and again when it is ready for collection.

As each piece is made by a single maker, I focus on keeping the work moving steadily at the bench. I’ll always be in touch when there’s something meaningful to share, so you can feel confident everything is on track.

Pricing & Payments

Each ring is priced individually based on the stone, metal, and design, allowing the final piece to be tailored to your budget and preferences.

Sharing your budget helps me focus on options that are genuinely suited to you, making the process more efficient and considered.

A 50% deposit is required to begin production, with the remaining balance due upon completion.

Once your stone has been selected and the design confirmed.

No - pricing varies depending on materials and design complexity. The price of precious metals are constantly changing and quotes are based on the price of materials at that point in time.

Once a quote for a bespoke ring is provided, clients will have 72 hours to decide if they would like to proceed. Following this 72 hour period, a requote may be needed should the price of gold increase.

Aftercare

Yes - one complimentary resize is offered within 12 months of the collection date.

I do not offer resizes on jewellery I've not made.

Each Benjamin Rose piece comes with a 12-month manufacturer’s warranty covering manufacturing faults.

If a fault is identified, I will repair or replace the piece within this period. The warranty does not cover general wear and tear, accidental damage, or gemstone loss.

If repairs are required outside of warranty, I will provide a quote for approval before proceeding.

I offer ongoing support, including cleaning, inspections, and repairs as needed.

Regular cleaning and mindful wear will keep your ring in great condition.

I recommend insuring engagement rings through a third party, as my warranty does not cover accidental damage, loss or theft.
